Czechia-Taiwan cooperation in semiconductor research: Taiwanese Foreign Minister visits ACDRC

In September 2025, Taiwanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung visited the Advanced Chip Design and Research Center (ACDRC). The minister was welcomed in Brno by the center's director, Radek Holý, Ph.D. During his visit, Lin Chia-lung learned about the key activities of the ACDRC, which contributes to the development of the semiconductor industry, supports professional growth and human resource capacity building, and strives to effectively transfer research results into practice. The ACDRC project, coordinated jointly by the National Institutes of Applied Research (NIAR) in Taiwan and CyberSecurityHubcz in the Czech Republic, is an important pillar of bilateral cooperation in the field of semiconductor technologies.

The projects carried out at the center cover a wide range of areas, from chip and semiconductor material design, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and biomedicine to cybersecurity. Thanks to partnerships with Taiwanese research institutions and companies, researchers and students have a unique opportunity to participate in the development of solutions with practical applications in industry, energy, and the automotive sector.

The ACDRC also includes educational programs and student exchanges that enable talented Czech students to attend top Taiwanese universities. Summer schools, visiting professors, and professional training bring new knowledge to the Czech environment and enable the development of skills that are essential for future competitiveness.

These joint activities are part of the Taiwan-Czech Resilience Program, which connects Czech universities with Taiwanese partners and companies to strengthen technology, educate new experts, and build economic and strategic relationships. The ACDRC plays a key role in supporting research, development, and education in semiconductor technologies, thereby strengthening the technological potential of the Czech Republic and the strategic partnership between the two countries.
