EDIH Cybersecurity Innovation Hub 2.0: New Opportunities for Czech Companies in the Field of Cybersecurity

From 2026 to 2029, businesses and public organizations will continue to have the opportunity to access services that will help them strengthen their cybersecurity, manage the risks associated with digitalization, and use artificial intelligence safely. The continuation of the EDIH Cybersecurity Innovation Hub program will provide concrete support to those who need technical infrastructure, technology, and expert guidance.

What We Achieved During the Pilot Phase

During the pilot phase of the EDIH project, we gained valuable insights and demonstrated a huge demand for cybersecurity services. This high level of interest confirmed to us that there is a long-term need for high-quality cybersecurity support in the Czech Republic. Our clients include companies from the manufacturing, aviation, and service sectors, as well as public sector institutions—ranging from the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and the Czech Police to hospitals and courts.

One example is the University Hospital in Brno, where, several years after experiencing a ransomware attack, IT staff and management participated in a cybersecurity exercise that we prepared for the hospital as part of the EDIH project. We simulated an attack during which employees practiced defense and investigation, improved their collaboration despite stress, and gained new technical knowledge. The client recommends us to others and has even proposed a presentation at a conference.

What’s New in the Follow-Up Project: EDIH Cybersecurity Innovation Hub 2.0

The experience gained from the pilot phase and the high level of interest from companies and institutions allow us to launch a follow-up project that will offer additional services and new areas of support. EDIH Cybersecurity Innovation Hub 2.0 builds on what proved successful in the pilot while responding to rapid technological developments and the current needs of organizations.

Artificial intelligence security as a priority
⇒ The pilot EDIH project focused on the cybersecurity aspects of digitalization. The follow-up EDIH project adds AI cybersecurity as a key theme.

Support for Larger Enterprises
⇒ Due to funding conditions, the pilot project was limited to companies with up to 499 employees. The follow-up project raises this limit to 3,000 employees.

International collaboration, including infrastructure sharing
⇒ In the pilot project, international collaboration was limited to the exchange of experiences. The follow-up project enables the sharing of infrastructure across Europe.

Expansion of the service portfolio
⇒ The follow-up project’s model will enable the provision of an even broader range of services and ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.

Changes in Funding

While services were fully funded by European and national sources during the pilot phase, the funding model will be adjusted under EDIH II, and a portion of the services—albeit a very small portion—will now be co-funded by clients. The vast majority of consulting, analytical, and educational services will again be free of charge, as both our donors and our consortium partners recognize that Czech companies and organizations truly need support in the area of cybersecurity.

We would like to thank all our partners and clients for their trust and cooperation, and we look forward to seeing what the second project will bring. Follow us for more updates on services, events, and opportunities for collaboration in the new EDIH Cybersecurity Innovation Hub 2.0 program.
